RESEARCHER Mick Wilks wants to find out about the names on the Roll of Honour at Hanley Castle High School
The roll lists former pupils at the school who gave their lives during the two world wars.
Mr Wilks, who went to Hanley Castle in the 1950s when it was still a grammar school, said: "It was at the annual meeting of the Old Boys in July this year that it was put to me that, because of my interest in local military matters, I might like to take on the task of researching the background to the names on the Roll of Honour."
He is not aware of any Old Hancastrians who died in conflicts other than the two world wars, but if there are any, he wants to know about them and says they should be included on the roll.
"I'm aware of one name that is missing from the present roll," he said.
"This was my uncle, Bruce Chadd, who certainly went to the school and lost his life while serving with the RAF. There may have been others who have been inadvertently missed off the roll."
