AN ordinary middle-class family whose house has seen more than its fair share of fatalities is the basis for a comedy being staged by WADS.

Woolhope Amateur Dramatic Society will be staging Derek Benfield's Beyond a Joke from November 27-29.

'Genuine accidents or is someone to blame?' is the question which provides the comedy when an unsuspecting window cleaner and a nave TV repairman come to an unfortunate end.

Author Benfield trained for the stage at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and had roles in the likes of Coronation Street, Dixon of Dock Green and The Likely Lads.

He is also a prolific playwright and two new works have been produced this year, Funny Business and Second Time Round.

Beyond a Joke was first performed at Shanklin Theatre on the Isle of Wight in 1979.

Beyond a Joke is being staged at Woolhope Parish Hall and tickets are £5 (£4 concessions) from Brenda Mollett on 01432 860373 or via e-mail on paula@ changeman.co.uk.
