I NOTE with amusement Michael Foster's letter (You Say, Monday, November 17) regarding the funding formula for schools.

In one sentence, he suggests Peter Luff goes back to school to learn basic maths in order to understand the new formula, and in another sentence he states that "few people seem to fully understand the new funding formula for education".

Is this an indication of the state of the education system under Labour, in that few people are leaving school with basic maths skills?

Maybe Mr Foster (left) should spend more time listening to the headteachers around the county as regards funding and spend less time trying to score political points.
