A SPECIAL leaflet has been produced to offer Worcestershire motorists guidance on sensible driving during the icy winter months.
The leaflet has been published by the county council's winter maintenance service and it also contains maps of the 25 precautionary gritting routes that cover a third of the county's roads.
The winter maintenance service will also be on standby from now until mid-April, ready to respond to adverse weather forecasts of ice or snow.
If poor weather is anticipated, service, which involves council officers and maintenance partners Raynesway Construction, springs into action, utilising 10,000 tonnes of salt through 29 gritters, six small de-mountable gritters and two snow-blowers.
Copies of the sensible driving leaflets are available at libraries and via the council's website: www.worcestershire.gov.uk
