THE best of Worcestershire's eateries feature in a new guide which is being sent around the world.

Twelve winners from the Tastes of Worcestershire competition are included in a 10-page leaflet produced by the county's tourism chiefs, hoping to make an impact overseas.

The guide, which will be distributed worldwide in the New Year, follows on from Worcestershire County Council's contest that aims to highlight businesses using locally-produced ingredients.

Worcestershire County Council tourism officer Kathryn Wagstaff said the importance of food and drink for the county's profile and economy could not be underestimated.

"Local food and drink is big business for the county and Worcestershire has some wonderful produce such as fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, wines and fruit juices," she said.

"This competition is all about recognising and rewarding those businesses that do use local produce and are proud of the fact - the leaflet is part of their prize."

Tasty Worcestershire recipes are also included in the guide which is available now in tourist information centres throughout the county.
