The ex-England semi-professional international signed a two-year deal at Aggborough in the summer of 2000 but was one of a number of players transfer listed in early 2001.
The former West Bromwich Albion young professional, who is capable of dangerous solo runs from midfield, bucked up his ideas and made himself difficult to leave out of the side.
A stunning eight goals in as many league games in season 2001/02 showed he can mix it with the best in Division Three and he signed a new two-and-a-half year deal in December 2001.
Last season was a stop-start affair for Bennett and though he began to settle into a right-sided midfield role, he has a crucial campaign ahead of him in his football career.
