If new boss David Busst was unaware of the task he faced in trying to lift Evesham United out of the doldrums, then at 4.45pm on Saturday, he had much more idea.

Busst had just seen his side humiliated 2-0 by Shepshed Dynamo, who were bottom of the Dr Martens Western Division and without a league win all season.

United failed to get out of second gear for most of the game and in the end were beaten by a more hard working and organised side.

Two goals in the final 20 minutes condemned United to defeat. The first arrived in the 70th minute. Matthew Dorrian got to the by-line down the right and pulled the ball back to Martin Emery and he swept the ball in past former Shepshed 'keeper Damien Beattie.

Six minutes from time, the visitors secured their first victory at the 17th attempt with a second goal. Simon Forsdick set up Scott MacKay and he netted with a rising shot past Beattie.

Former Bristol Rovers trialist, Andy Hammett, lifted the gloom a little for United after replacing the injured Danny James and twice was denied a debut goal by good blocks from Dynamo 'keeper Andy Harland.

Jay Powell touched a left wing cross against a post that was the closest Evesham got as Shepshed easily played out time to earn the win.
