POLICE are celebrating after slashing anti-social behaviour in north Worcestershire by more than 30 per cent.
Officers have attributed the success in the Wyre Forest area to the recent police operation, code-named Ghost, which ran from the beginning of October to the middle of this month.
Beat Manager PC Bob Fearnall explained: "We have been working hard to try and improve the level of anti-social behaviour at this time of year with trick or treats and bonfire night usually resulting in an increase in calls.
"This has not been something that just the police have done, we have also been working with our partners including Trading Standards, the fire brigade and local urban safety groups."
The 30 per cent reduction means the force has 200 fewer reports of incidents of anti-social behaviour compared to last year.
The Offmore and Comberton areas of Kidderminster saw the biggest reduction, with disorder falling 69 per cent, burglary 57 per cent and the total number of crimes falling by 37 per cent.
"We concentrated our efforts on reduction and used many diversion tactics to achieve our goal," PC Fearnall added.
