GARDEN designers are being urged to dig deep and produce their best displays for Malvern's Spring Garden show.

Next year's event at the Three Counties Showground promises to be the biggest and best yet, with around 90,000 people expected.

Organisers are already on the look out for inspired artists to showcase their work at the May show.

They hope a new category of Urban Style, to showcase work on a small plot, will entice both experienced and up-and-coming designers.

Other categories include Large Feature Garden and Water Garden and the first 10 schemes received and approved across these three categories will receive a £1,000 grant.

"Gardeners of all ages and levels of expertise come to Malvern to gain inspiration for their own gardens," said Doreen Smillie, garden show manager.

"So we're looking for a range of designs from contemporary and traditional, domestic and theatrical, so we can provide something to suit a variety of tastes."

Designs can be serious or entertaining with last year's entries ranging from the cool, contemporary chic of Per Knowles' A Gentleman's Retreat, to the fun-loving garden, The Ruined Temple from Kipling's Jungle Book, by Hilary Collins.
