DOG wardens have expressed concern about the number of stray animals roaming the streets of Evesham, after they picked up 10 in the last fortnight.
The unusually high number has shocked wardens, who are baffled by the increase.
Impossible
"It is impossible to say why we have had such an increase in the past fortnight," said warden Pip Singleton, who works for Wychavon District Council.
"All the dogs we have picked up, apart from one, in the last fortnight have been from the town. Usually there would be just one or two.
"And, as only three of the 10 dogs have been claimed, it seems as though a lot of dog owners simply cannot deal with their pets anymore.
"People are sometimes at the end of their tether when dogs misbehave or keep escaping.
"This is a plea to those people - please, please, contact us if you are having problems.
"Do not just abandon your dog."
