BROMSGROVE Rovers moved safely into the Birmingham Senior Cup third round with a comfortable victory 3-0 at Rugby United last night.

Paul Szewczyk scored in each half, taking his goal tally since joining George Rooney's side last month to six. Steve Frost got the other.

Szewczyk gave the visitors the lead just three minutes in when he headed home Richard Tomkins' corner.

Rovers, 5-1 winners at Rugby in the Dr Martens Western ten days ago, were hardly troubled all night by a near reserve side but were grateful to Frost for clearing the hosts' best chance from Danny Nelson.

Peter Sutton limped off midway through the half and Ian Gandy, in for Paul Wyatt, was forced into a good save from Tom Berich before half time.

Two minutes after the break it was 2-0. Again it was Tomkins' corner and this time it was Frost rising to head home.

Rugby had Lee Golding sent off on 67 minutes for a second bookable offence.

Szewczyk got his second ten minutes from time, slotting home after Kevin Banner had played him in.
