MARK Robinson scored the winner as Bromsgrove Hockey Club Men's First XI went second in West Midlands One with a 3-2 home victory over rivals Redditch.
Julian Court's side, who travel to Droitwich Spa for another local derby this Saturday, were 2-0 behind before clawing their way back into an entertaining game.
Bromsgrove made life difficult for themselves though by conceding twice in the opening ten minutes, both times from short corners.
But Court's side showed their character and hit back to level at the break through Nick Frizzell and Dave Bower.
Bromsgrove upped the tempo in the second half and could have scored more before Robinson hit the winner from a penalty flick. The hosts also had Marcus Dawson sent to the sin bin twice while Redditch were reduced to ten men for the last ten minutes.
Captain Court said: "It was a good game. It's good to see how we fought back and we had to fight. Redditch played an open game and when we went two down I really did think the worst."
