BARRY Williams believes his Droitwich Spa Hockey Club Men's First XI were hard done by in their defeat at Rugeley last Saturday.
Spa, 7-1 winners against Kynoch in their previous match, were beaten 2-1 after taking the lead and were unable to find an equaliser the captain said they deserved.
"We did not deserve to lose," Williams said. "We deserved at least a draw and created more chances than they did. It was a hard game."
Spa, who stay eighth in West Midlands One, played some good hockey but failed to capitalise on their possession. Andy Harris set Williams up to give the visitors the lead early on.
Rugeley, who scored from their only two real chances of the game, levelled from a fortuitous deflection following a penalty corner and took the lead before half time.
Spa dominated second half but could not add to their tally.
