A REDDITCH Tory councillor has hit out at a fellow Conservative county councillor after he said some women police officers should not serve on the front line.
Councillor Jim Uphill said he was "totally disgusted" by the comments made in the Advertiser by councillor Tom Wareing.
Mr Wareing, who wants to see more specials, said he thought a 5ft 2ins woman police officer "had a place but not in front line policing."
Angry Mr Uphill said: "I was totally disgusted and I want to completely disassociate myself from his comments, as I'm sure many fellow Conservatives would want to."
Mr Uphill said he was concerned most women would be upset by Mr Wareing's comments. "I'd like to urge women in the police force go along to the county contact forum tomorrow at the town hall to air their views," he added.
