A PLAY based on well-loved children's classic Tom's Midnight Garden is running at Birmingham's Old Rep Theatre.
Written by Phillipa Pearce and described as 'one of the best children's stories ever written', the tale has been adapted for the stage by national children's dramatist David Wood.
The production by The Birmingham Stage Company follows acclaimed shows Charlotte's Web and last year's record-breaking George's Marvellous Medicine.
A spokesman said: "It is a magical story of two friends separated by an invisible divide.
"It all begins when Tom hears the grandfather clock in the hallway strike 13 and he travels back in time to the Victorian era to a wonderful secret garden where he meets orphan Hatty and they have marvellous adventures together."
It runs until January 31. Tickets, £14 (children £7.50, family of four £38) from 0121 616 1519 or 0121 605 7000.
