DROITWICH Spa continued their rise back up Midland Combination division two with a topsy-turvy victory against Leamington Hibernian.
Kevin Blaber's side, who move up one place to 12th with their fourth win of the season, trailed 1-0 and led 2-1 before winning 3-2 last Saturday.
Injuries forced Spa into several changes. Goalkeeper Simon Williams was replaced by centre half Nick West while sweeper Tom Goss played as an emergency striker.
But despite that the boss is pleased with how things are going.
"We are starting to get one or two edging their way back from injury. It was a good win and I am very pleawed with it. We are playing very well. We showed character because I thought our heads might drop at when they levelled at 2-2 but they didn't."
Leamington opened the scoring early on as Droitwich struggled to adapt to the changes. Spa had the chance of a quick response when Greg Thomas was fouled in the penalty area but Kerry Manger put the resulting spot kick high and wide.
The hosts continued to push for the equaliser and it came when Thomas bundled the ball past the Leamington goalkeeper after a period of sustained Spa pressure.
Spa were awarded a second penalty just after the re-start when Thomas was again felled in the box. This time Dean Wise converted.
With 20 minutes left Leamington pulled level after Droitwich failed to clear a corner and the subsequent cross rebounded in-off a Spa leg.
Minutes later though Droitwich were back in front and this time they held on. Wise was put clear by Alex Kolb and slotted the ball under the advancing goalkeeper.
Spa travel to Central Ajax this Saturday.
