DEAR EDITOR - Hooray! At last someone else has written about the disgusting garbage tied around our lampposts and traffic lights. However, I would ask M Harper from Staple Flats not to get too excited about writing to the local council about it.
I have had correspondence with them on and off since October 2001 and the last letter I had back from Jon Fraser, who is the one in charge of street furniture, said they would get together with Redditch Council with a view to doing something about the 'Giant 3 Piece Sale offenders.'
I admit the council should not have to spend valuable tax on clearing up after irresponsible lawbreakers, but I can not understand the reluctance to prosecute. It would only have to be done a couple of times for the message to get through.
Perhaps we should remind the council that elections are due next May and we would like someone who can show the town a little 'TLC' in charge.
