THE November meeting opened as usual with the singing of Jerusalem. Our president Sue Kirby welcomed members and visitors to the AGM for 2003, including the WI advisor Joan Ellis. The minutes were read and signed.
Sue is retiring as president, together with Marge Colvin as secretary. A hard act to follow as both members are dedicated, making Bromsgrove WI an enjoyable afternoon.
Doreen Moore gave an interesting account spent at Denham College, the course studied was ancient Cotswold towns.
Iris Hackett provided flowers for the meeting. A very good poem and several items were read out. We were informed but sorry to hear that Mary Davies, our group co-ordinater, is retiring, but we have a new lady Kath Davies, who is to take it on and we all wish her well. June Cant gave an up date of the bowls, telling us about different members that have won awards and who won the Bromsgrove WI shield.
The crafts and whist afternoons are still going on, Pat Hollis is organising the skittle for members to enjoy the challenges.
The committee members gave their support individually, Joan Ellis commending them for the inspiration and enthusiasm our members get each month from the hard work they put in.
Irene Adams gave thanks to the committee. Joan Ellis then proceeded to organise our new committee, with member Betty Pickering to be our new president.
Social time was on the topic of the WI.
Betty Pickering won the competition and a break for tea and biscuits was followed by the raffle.
Another year has passed with Bromsgrove WI and we are all looking forward to the friendship and interest for 2004.
