PEDESTRIANS on a busy Bromsgrove footpath have been given the red light.
A length of path in Rock Hill has been closed for three weeks and now residents want to know when it is being re-opened.
Neil Holmes, of Rock Hill, said high winds caused a tree to fall on the pavement earlier this month and this was removed. Vegetation near it was also cleared but since then the path has remained closed.
"This is a very busy stretch of road so people are either forced to cross the road or walk on the road around it," he said. "This can be difficult, and dangerous, for those with pushchairs or small children. All we want to know is when the path is being re-opened and what is causing the delay."
Bromsgrove Highways Partnership manager Jon Fraser said the delay had been caused by safety concerns over the stability of the bank at the side of the path.
"When the tree came down there was some concern over the bank, so as a precaution we kept it closed and an assessment was carried out," he said.
"Once we have received the results of that we will either reopen the path or carry out the necessary work. Unfortunately the closure is an inconvenience but we want to make sure the area is safe."
