A CLENT woman has been left heartbroken after thieves pinched her trailer containing more than £1,000 of horse riding equipment.
Tess Godwin was horrified to find her Ivor Williams trailer missing from the field, near to her home, where she keeps her four horses last Thursday afternoon.
She believes the trailer, which contained numerous personalised horse blankets, lead ropes and head clasps, was pinched between 3.30pm and 4.15.
"I think this was a planned crime. They sheared off the lock to the gate, undid the latch and took the trailer complete with its two wheel clamps," said the Walton Pool Lane resident.
"They also left the gate open and any of the five horses in the field could have escaped onto the nearby dual carriageway. Luckily they didn't."
Tess is an endurance rider and competes in national events. Now she fears that if her equipment is not returned, she will not be able to start the season in March. "I am very angry and very upset. I simply cannot afford to replace what has been stolen. There were sixteen blankets inside the trailer, valued at £60 each."
Tess is appealing to anyone who has seen the blue trailer with white top, or any of the equipment inside it, to call her on 01562 882280 or the police.
"It is possible the thieves have dumped the equipment at the side of a road and I am urging people to keep their eyes open for it."
Tess added: "Alternatively if there is anyone with blankets their horses have out grown I would much appreciate a donation."
