HARD-WORKING staff and pupils from a Droitwich school were jumping for joy after coming ninth in a national newspaper's league table of top 500 independent schools.
Whitford Hall and Dodderhill School in Crutch Lane achieved the prestigious status in the Sunday Times' list of the top independent schools across the country.
The school table, published last weekend includes a section for the 50 best small independent schools, taking into account those with fewer than ten A-level candidates each year.
Headteacher, Joan Mumby is delighted to be ranked so highly which proves the school has come on in leaps and bounds since coming 33rd in the same list last year.
Thrilled
She said: "I am absolutely thrilled and it is all due to the hard work of both the staff and the pupils."
The tables are based on the percentage of A and A*s achieved by pupils at GCSE level with Whitford Hall and Dodderhill attaining 52.8 per cent.
She added: "But of course these tables only look at examination results. There is so much more to it than that and we offer so many other activities including textiles, sports and lots of career opportunities.
"We had a good year but we are always looking to improve. "
