THIS was actually a hugely satisfying comic book-style film and within minutes of viewing, the great trepidation I felt prior to watching it dissipated.
Bruce Banner (Eric Bana) finds his life going horrifically out of control after a lab accident turns him into a gigantic green ogre who terrorises everyone except his ex-girlfriend Betty Ross (Jennifer Connelly), who seems to adore the revolting bogey-man.
One thing which did slightly detract from the enjoyment of this film was the fact that Hulk the monster is a computer generated image - a technique which is being used more and more in films recently.
Don't get me wrong, I was in no way under the illusion that the hulk actually lived and breathed but I did want to believe in his existence slightly more than this film allowed me to.
Apart from Hulk's unreal appearance, this was a good film that had more of a substantial plot than the cinema-going public has come to expect from films which start their lives as comic strips.
A second disc also features plenty of information and interesting pieces about the making of the film.
