REDDITCH ambulance crews spent Saturday afternoon and evening dealing with people who had injured themselves celebrating England's historic Rugby World Cup victory.
However, during the tense and exciting morning game, which saw England beat Australia in extra time with a last-gasp Jonny Wilkinson drop goal, no calls were made to Redditch ambulance station.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "After the match, we had a lot of calls to deal with people who had been celebrating.
"We dealt with people who had fallen over and people who had been involved in accidents having had too much to drink.
"We saw people who were still drinking at 9pm who had been drinking since the morning, so it did cause us a few problems.
"And one person did suffer serious injuries as a result."
During the game, a total of six non-emergency calls were made to Redditch police - which was particularly quiet for a Saturday morning.
A police spokesman said: "There was nothing of major importance. One call was for an abandoned vehicle."
The spokesman also said the police did not have to deal with any alcohol-fuelled trouble brought on as a direct result of the game.
Fire crews also had a quiet morning and were not called out at all during the game.
