VICE-chairman Delice Bayliss opened the meeting in the absence of Jenny Cox.
Miriam Tilt, assistant secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and treasurer Marion Collins gave the financial report.
Miriam reported on the recent Dabble Day. A profit of £79 was made due to some of the tutors giving their own time to help with handicrafts etc.
Margaret Humphries told of the enjoyable evening spent with Inkberrow WI.
Also, as village hall representative on the parish council, she told members how concerned everyone was at the speed of motorists travelling town Cockshott Lane where there had been an accident involving a schoolboy.
Discussions had taken place regarding cameras, crossings and lights, which it was hoped to put in place.
Rosemary Smith reported on the last skittles match, which the team unfortunately lost. Sheila Baskeyfield was the highest scorer. After several attempts, Delice was declared winner of the draw for the Denman bursary.
Members were reminded about the American supper at the December meeting.
Speaker Vince Williams gave an illustrated talk in memory of relative Jeff Lakes, who died after accomplishing a feat never before achieved by a climber on K2, the second highest mountain in the world.
He, with three other family members and guides, travelled by plane, across mountainous tracks and walked 100 miles to reach the foot of K2. There they placed a plaque in memory of Jeff.
The slides showed glaciers looking like fairy castles and the treacherous terrain in which they had had to trek.
The competition was won by Betty Curthoys and Ann Richard won the raffle.
