AT the November luncheon, members were told of ideas for next year's summer outing.

A trip to Frogmore House, with maybe a visit to Windsor, was suggested.

The planned speaker was unable to attend through illness but Gill Huddlestone worked her magic and obtained the services of Sylvia Palmer and Fran Hales to give a demonstration of Christmas flower arrangements.

Sylvia lives in Alcester and for many years kept the florist shop in the High Street.

Many people will have seen the beautiful displays of lilies in St Nicholas Church at Easter.

Fran Hales also lives in Alcester and worked for Sylvia for more than 20 years.

They each did several demonstrations of some simple arrangements for Christmas using oasis blocks, rings, candles, ribbons and greenery - some fresh, some artificial. Fran also demonstrated the making of ribbon bows and made it look easy.

The next luncheon will be on Wednesday, December 11, with entertainment by Christine Sheen on keyboard.
