ROGER Jauncey chaired a very different, yet enjoyable evening.
The main part of the evening was a workshop on speech construction. In small groups consisting of experienced and new members, people were asked to plan the outline of a speech based on the theme of "Use of the Voice".
The exercise was of great value to all to understand how a speech may be constructed, particularly when composing a speech the writer may have far too much information and has to prune it down.
Derek Carter then had the unenviable task of giving a speech entitled "Big" with the entire audience evaluating his every word.
The topics session was led by Pam Nicholls, who took the theme "Eleven" as it was a very specific date.
The evening concluded with a general evaluation by a visitor from Solihull Speakers Club, Norman Hewlett, who enjoyed the unusual evening and said he would take some of the ideas back to his own club.
