November saw the AGM so WI adviser Christine Hickman-Smith was welcomed to the meeting to assist at the elections. Fortunately, all went smoothly and Jill Warner agreed to stand as president for another year with her committee continuing unchanged except for gaining a new member.
Jill thanked everyone who had worked throughout the year to make the WI so successful and, in particular, the small committee who had worked so well together.
Margaret Harrison, secretary, gave a brief outline of all the activities over the year and thanked everyone who had helped make birthday night such a success with a wonderful American supper and entertainment by Dentith and Price.
After the formal part of the evening, Christine told members about her recent training to be a WIA.
After tea there were several reports . The first was by Brenda Dainty on the recent group meeting, where Tricia Stewart spoke on the original Calendar Girls.
Then Julia Tremlett thanked everyone for giving her a bursary to Denman where she studied Showtime - The Sound of Music. Barbara Nash gave an amusing report on the recent council meeting at Evesham, where the speakers were Clive Wilkinson , Chief Inspector for Worcestershire schools, and Dolcie Lewis giving a talk entitled Down the Yorkshire Pan.
Finally arrangements were made for a visit to Behind the Scenes at Sainsburys, and a craft afternoon with Janet Miller ready for Christmas.
