A REDDITCH school has been picked to take part in a pilot project with the county's Rethink Rubbish - Turn the World campaign.
Oakhill First School was chosen along with nine other schools from Bromsgrove, Worcester, Malvern, Wyre Forest and Wychavon.
About 18 per cent of the 255 schools of all types and age ranges across the county applied to take part in the pilot scheme and the distribution of local districts reflects the percentage of schools which applied from each area.
One teacher from each of the chosen schools will benefit from a training programme aimed at enabling them to integrate issues such as waste minimisation and responsible consumer choice into their school's curriculum and management practices.
Each of the 10 schools can also apply for up to £3,000 for waste minimisation and recycling projects.
The selected teachers have already started the programme with visits to Wychavon District Council offices and Severn Waste Services' Hill and Moor landfill site near Pershore, where much of the county's waste is sorted and buried.
