OUTLINE plans for a housing development on land where Gypsies still live look set to be thrown out by councillors.

Cranbrook Homes wants to build 120 homes, a nursing home and a shop at Friday Furlong, Bidford.

Stratford Council officers have recommended the plan be refused as it does not conform to some planning policies.

The council has also said Cranbrook Homes has not provided details of where they will relocate the Gypsies on the site.

Planning agents on behalf of Cranbrook Homes said: "The parish council supports the level of housing and the range of uses proposed. The public meeting held recently showed overwhelming support."

Three letters of objection have been received from residents, as well as organisations, including Bidford Health Centre, which said it would not be able to cope with the extra workload.

Cleeve Parish Council and Wychavon District Council objected, saying plans were prematurely submitted before the Local Plan public inquiry.

Councillors are due to decide on the plans tomorrow.
