THE Forum Theatre in Malvern will be transformed into an ice rink for a frosty festive production of Sleeping Beauty On Ice.

After their successful visit to Malvern last year, The Russian Ice Stars will perform a ballet fairytale on ice with great artistry and precision, featuring daredevil acrobatic skating in time to Tchaikovsky's music.

From the beginning of December, 14 tonnes of frozen ice will be kept at a minimum temperature of -15C to ensure the ice stars have a stage on which to perform.

The show will feature the reigning Olympic gold medallist gymnast Ioulia Barsoukova, who will be remembered for her role as the Nutcracker doll in last year's ice production of The Nutcracker.

One of Russia's favourite skaters, Katya Murugova, will take the title role in Sleeping Beauty and all the skaters are former Russian competitors at national, European, world or Olympic level.

Between them they have 300 competition medals and are famed throughout the world for their unique style of theatre on ice.

This year's Sleeping Beauty marks ten years since the Russian Ice Stars first came to this country and performed Sleeping Beauty On Ice.

Since their first production, they have produced shows on ice which include Cinderella, The Phantom of the Opera, The Nutcracker and Peter Pan.

Sleeping Beauty On Ice runs at The Forum Theatre in Malvern from Tuesday to Sunday and tickets priced £20.50 and £22.50, with concessions, are available from the box office on 01684 892277.
