I WAS shocked to read that Stourport Town Council will not be issuing polling cards for the November 27 by-election (which I only became aware of after your article last week).
The rather specious excuse given by the mayor that Conservative group members have been delivering leaflets informing affected households would seem to be a case of loading the dice in their favour.
It is most likely that core Labour voters will discard the leaflets without reading them and thus the only people aware of the election would be Conservative and floating voters.
As to the suggestion that the money could be better spent on improvements in the town, may I ask exactly where are these improvements to be found, and why is now considered a good time for them?
The mayor and his cronies should be ashamed of dragging democracy through the dirt at a time when British lives are being spent defending it.
I only hope that enough voters read your article and make their voices heard on election day.
