KING'S School ran out 16-12 winners over the Royal Grammar School in the annual clash of the two Worcester schools last night.
In front of a large crowd at Worcester Rugby Club's Sixways headquarters, King's took a 16-0 lead before a late RGS revival pegged them back.
A driving try by prop Stuart Chandler gave King's first blood.
They soon extended their advantage when an overlap created by Huw Dimond was finished off by right wing Josh Kelly.
Full back Peter Winstanley kicked two penalties to make it 16-0.
However, RGS got on the scoresheet when hooker Simon James went over following a drive, and Oliver Haines scored a second try when he successfully chased a kick ahead.
Chris Pinner kicked a fine touchline conversion to reduce the deficit to four points with 10 minutes to go, but King's held on to their advantage.
It was their second narrow victory in successive years, having triumphed 13-10 last season.
