SHAKESPEARE'S The Tempest will be interpreted as a ballet for a show at the Swan Theatre in Worcester. Independent Ballet Wales, a young group of dancers who are pushing back the barriers of classical ballet, challenge themselves to interpret some of the finest characters from some of the most powerful and timeless stories in literary history.
The company will give The Tempest, Shakespeare's last and most fulfilling play, a fresh awakening as a full-length ballet.
On an enchanted isle peopled by magical beings, Ariel, the fleet-footed spirit of the air; Caliban, the deformed and twisted slave; the magician Prospero and lovers Miranda and Ferdinand all collide in a story rich in subtlety and humour.
The performance takes place at the Swan Theatre on Saturday at 7.30pm and tickets priced between £9 and £12 are available from the box office on 01905 611427.
