D E Margrett writes (You Say, Thursday, November 20) that I am "ignorant" and that I "write rubbish" because I dared to criticise his assertion that Great Britain's relationship to the USA was damaging to this country's interests.
I can take as many of his juvenile insults as he cares to throw at me, and it just goes to show how it is endemic in our society today that if a person should utter criticism of another's views they are immediately condemned as stupid or ignorant.
The views of others appear to have little relevance for many people who appear to think they are beyond criticism.
I do not accept his view that Great Britain is no more than a "poodle" to the USA as he puts it.
The simple and unpleasant fact is that World War Three began with the attack on the USA on September 11, 2001.
This enemy wears no uniform and waves no flag, they speak many languages and look just like the rest of us. They are the enemy within our society.
Clearly it is not an option to sit back and "hope it goes away", as several of our so-called allies seem prepared to do. Great Britain, the USA and others realise that this global threat must be faced.
If facing up to this reality makes Great Britain a poodle in some people's eyes then so be it. I'd rather be a poodle than a dead duck.
