A BURGLAR who raided a neighbour's house and stole property worth more than £1,000 has been given a last chance to avoid custody.
Kevin Jones propped a bike against a wall to help him climb onto a flat roof and gain access to the property in Gilgal, Stourport.
He also stole a CD player and a number of CDs worth a total of £500 from a parked car in the town.
In a second raid, he stole tools valued at £775 from a house and grabbed audio equipment worth £243 from another car, Worcester Crown Court heard.
Recorder Martin Cardinal told 23-year-old Jones, of Gilgal, that it was appropriate under Court of Appeal guidelines to give the heroin addict an 18 month drug treatment as an alternative to prison.
William Rickarby, defending, said Jones, who admitted burglary and theft, suffered from heroin addiction.
