AS Georgie Fame stepped into the spotlight at Stratford Civic Hall on Sunday night and launched into a barrel-house piano version of Lawdy Miss Clawdy, 40 years rolled away.
I last saw him in his club in Oxford Street with the Blueflames, and it was a great night out then.
When his two sons joined him on stage, James on drums and Tristan on guitar, Georgie cranked up his veteran Hammond organ and they moved smoothly through numbers by Goffin and King and Herbie Hancock.
Among the favourites like Bonnie and Clyde and Getaway were for me two special numbers, a jazzy version of Booker T's Green Onions, and a Jimi Hendrix number played and sung superbly by Tristan. Great night - thanks Georgie and Sons.
