JAN Molby wants to get reformed alcoholic Adam Murray's career back on track by offering him a deal at Kidderminster Harriers.
Murray played three games on loan for Harriers under Ian Britton but left in September to beat the booze at a top clinic.
The determined ex-England U-20s midfielder, who tore up his contract with Derby, is training with Notts County and has played twice for Burton Albion on non-contract terms in the Conference.
Murray, 22, is attracting the attention of Nationwide League Division One clubs, with Walsall believed to be one, and Morocco side Raja Casablanca.
But director of football Molby hopes Murray may be tempted enough by regular first-team football to accept a contract with Harriers until the end of the season.
He declared: "I'm very interested in Adam. He's the type of player I like. He's mobile, scores goals from midfield and can spot a pass.
"I don't believe he needs to play on non-contract terms or on trial. He needs somewhere he can get his career back on track, to be back playing and enjoying his football.
"He's training with Notts County but their situation being in administration means they could only put him on non-contract.
"We are prepared to make him an offer which would take him to the end of the season.
"I thought there may be a possibility with the player being here before and us being quite close to where he lives.
"But I suppose us being in the bottom five of Division Three is a problem.
"We cannot compete with many clubs which was shown by the Duane Darby situation when he signed for Shrewsbury."
Molby has paved the way for new signings by allowing centre-back Lee Ayres to move on, probably to Tamworth, before his short-term contract ends on January 1.
He said: "It starts the rebuilding job as Lee's the first one to go and I wouldn't rule out more departures but that's always difficult when players are under contract.
"I'm aware we need new faces but we do have players here who are not up to the standard we require.
"Lee had a clause in his contract stating he needed to be told what was happening before the end of November.
"It's unfortunate as I have three other centre-halves and another two who want to play there in Craig Hinton and Matt Gadsby."
Harriers tackle the impressive home form of Boston in Division Three on Saturday at York Street.
Molby added: "We haven't been fazed playing away from home but this will be a difficult test.
"They have got a very good home record. They're physically strong, very experienced and have been able to take teams down at home."
