JOHN Brain has admitted he has been left "extremely frustrated" by the growing injury list at Sixways.

Worcester's director of rugby has been forced to delay naming his side to face Wakefield at Sixways tomorrow (3pm) with Ben Daly, Neil Lyman, Chris Hall, Gary Trueman and Tommy Hayes all requiring fitness tests.

All the injuries are relatively minor but the number of niggly problems are giving the coaching staff a real headache as they prepare for a Wakefield double header.

Worcester face the Yorkshire club in National One this weekend before a Powergen Cup fifth round game at College Grove on November 1.

"We're annoyed because these niggly injuries have lasted longer than we anticipated," said Brain.

"It's extremely frustrating because we rested Gary Trueman on Saturday in the hope that he would be fit and Chris Hall's knee problem has taken longer than we expected.

"The players have trained well in the sessions but with so many injuries, it has been difficult to finalise a side."

Daly injured a hamstring during training while Lyman picked up a groin strain this week. Hall has been troubled with a knee problem for some time and Trueman was rested last Saturday because of a shin injury.

Hayes is still troubled by a rib problem but better news on the injury front sees Gavin Pfister and David Officer return to the squad following their ailments.

Worcester go into the league clash with the criticism of Saturday's performance against the Exeter Chiefs still ringing in their ears. And Brain admits that the players have something to prove against Wakefield.

"Too many individuals put in below par performances," he said. "If selected on Saturday, they need to turn that around because they accept that it wasn't good enough. The players were unhappy themselves about the way then ended the game, conceding two sloppy tries.

"I think, though, everyone is relieved to get back to league action. Everything about the game last Saturday was flat and the players are keen to get back to a competition with real intensity," said Brain.
