KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have parted company with midfielder Sam Shilton by mutual consent.

The 25-year-old, who is the son of former England goalkeeping legend Peter, has found first team opportunities limited following Jan Molby's return to the Aggborough 'hot seat' last October.

The Dane said: "Sam's done well here but, unfortunately for him, I think his style of play is best suited to a 3-5-2 formation and that's not a favoured system of mine.

"With that in mind it was always going to be difficult for him to hold down a first team spot. If was in Sam's best interests to continue his career elsewhere now rather than wait until the summer rush."

Former Plymouth Argyle and Coventry City campaigner Shilton, who is being linked with Nationwide Conference side Burton Albion, made 96 appearances for Kidderminster after joining the club from Third Division Hartlepool United in July 2001.

During his time at Aggborough Shilton found the net eight times.
