CHILDREN at a Worcester school have been building giant willow structures as part of their nature studies.
Youngsters at Ronkswood Infants School, St Albans Close, Ronkswood, helped to make a giant woodpecker out of living willow. The woodpecker is their school logo.
The project was led by Bob Green, from the Bishops Wood Environmental Education Centre, Bishops Wood, near Stourport-on-Severn.
Headteacher Janet Cope said the children, aged five and six years old, had had a "lovely time" making the structure in the snow, on Friday.
"The woodpecker's head is an igloo-type dome," she said.
"And the beak and tail are tunnels, to get into the structure. It's great - I've had a play inside it."
The living willow will now grow, with the fresh growth weaved in and out of the arch by the pupils.
