A POLICEMAN has been found guilty of failing to supply information about a car caught speeding in Worcester.
Christopher Ash, a Detective Constable at West Mercia CID, was handed three penalty points on his driving licence and ordered to pay a £300 fine and £70 costs at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday.
Magistrates found that the 44-year-old had failed to act with "due diligence" in finding out whether he or his wife was behind the steering wheel when his family car was snapped breaking the limit on City Walls Road last August.
Ash, of Fort Royal Lane, Worcester, said he could not remember who was driving when the car was caught.
The court heard that Ash, who offered to pay the fines in monthly instalments of £50, already has three points endorsed on his licence following a speeding offence last August.
A spokesman for West Mercia police said Ash would be required to notify the force's professional standards department as a result of the court hearing.
"Further enquiries will be conducted by the force as a result of the court's decision. We can't speculate on the outcome and whether it will lead to disciplinary action," added the spokesman.
Ash was unavailable for comment as the Evening News went to press.
