A LONG-STANDING client of a voluntary transport scheme has shown her gratitude by leaving the organisation a legacy.
The bequest of Betty Evans, of Penbury Street, Barbourne, has gone a long way to securing a new minibus for Worcester Wheels, which is based in The Tything, Worcester.
The rest of the money for the vehicle has come from within the organisation.
"Betty was a long-standing customer of ours and she left a very generous £28,500 to us in her will," said Worcester Wheels chief officer Sally Ellison.
"Sadly she passed away last March. She also remembered four other voluntary organisations which had helped her, which was very kind.
"This new minibus will enable us to provide a better service for clients and will release for sale our oldest minibus, which was bought in 1995."
Worcester Wheels provides a door-to-door service for elderly and disabled clients who are unable to use public transport, and enables them to travel to hospitals, doctors, shops, libraries and many other destinations.
"We offer a range of vehicles, including volunteers in their own cars, specially-adapted minibuses, and people carriers," added Sally.
"We are always in need of more volunteers, whether in the office receiving calls and making bookings, driving either their cars or our vehicles, or as escorts on the minibuses."
Anyone who would like to find out more about the service, and the opportunities available, should call 01905 24741.
