CELEBRATING Tenbury is the theme of this year's town carnival and the committee is busy finalising the day's details.
A free brochure will be available in shops from May and features a running programme of events.
These include several displays, including ones by Riding for the Disabled and the St Michael's Synchronised Swimming Team, and a marquee will house numerous craft stands.
A bar and barbecue will keep everyone fed and watered. Local bands will complement the day's events, playing into the early evening, while attractions such as quad biking for children, a funfair, bouncy castle and face painting will help to entertain the whole family.
Carnival Day, on Bank Holiday Monday, May 31, will kick off with a procession of floats through Teme Street, starting from Brightwells Auction yard.
If any one would like to enter either a motorised or walking float, contact Julie Cook 01584 810291 as soon as possible.
Entry is free and the winner takes home a shield. On May 22, the Royal Oak, in Market Street, hosts the Carnival Queen Dance when, the committee hopes, as many contestants (over 16) as possible will show up for judging.
The lucky winner will have the honour of leading the procession while decked out with a magnificent cloak and sash and will receive a silver salver - last seen in the 1970s! The evening is due to start at 8pm, with the Cellar Boys providing the entertainment.
