FLOWER AND CRAFT SHOW: Will be held on Saturday, August 7 beginning at 1pm until 5pm, at the Angel Hotel Riverside Gardens, High Street, Pershore (by permission of Mr Juan Mendez).
Schedules and entry forms are now available from Pershore Tourist Office at The Town Hall, Coach House Books, Jane Brown, Blue, Browns (Ironmongers) and The Corner Shop, Eckington.
GARDENING CLUB: The April meeting was held at Wulstan Hall on Thursday, April 29, at 7.30pm.
The meeting took the form of a social with excellent food provided by members, a bring and buy plant stall and a talk by Harry Green on Worcestershire Wild Life.
Members were enlightened as to the importance of ancient trees (some 1,000 years old) and the wildlife they sustain, Bredon Hill being the 10th such important site in the country. Just because a tree looks dead does not necessarily mean it is, and with careful and correct pruning it can be encouraged to survive, and continue to preserve the ecological system. Harry Green was thanked by Jean Norcott, the chairwoman.
Betty Loach was applauded for organising an outing to The Abbey Gardens at Malmesbury.
The next meeting will be on May 27 at Wulstan Hall at 7.30pm when Duncan Coombes will give a talk entitled The Gardens of China Revisited. The competition for the next meeting will be A Rose.
New members, members and visitors welcome. For information, contact Frances Watson-Smyth 01386 552407.
ARTHRITIS RESEARCH CAMPAIGN: Pershore branch will hold its annual garden party on Saturday, June 12, from 2pm and 4pm at Upper Brookend Court, Kempsey. Inquiries to Helen Fowler, 01386 860331.
