CYCLING: Steve Burns gained his third top 10 placing in as many races at the Retford and District Wheelers 10-mile time trial on Saturday.
Burns followed up his ninth at the Stourbridge CC event with a similar position in Tuxford when up against 119 other riders.
The Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club ace achieved a season's best time of 21 minutes 30 seconds, as did Ian Smith in 21-53.
Richard Bradley, of Stourbridge CC, clocked 20-11 to win the event overall.
The two Forest riders hope their good form continues for a race on the same course in the National 10-mile time Trial Championships on Saturday, May 22.
Meanwhile, Tony Richardson powered into 10th place in the Northampton and District CA 31-mile time trial on Saturday.
He raced home in one hour 24-39, behind overall winner Gary Stevens, of St Ives CC, in 1-16-07.
Rob Cole recorded 1-02-10 in his first competition of the season, tackling 25 miles in the Acme Wheelers (Rhondda) CC time trial in Glenneath, south Wales.
This weekend, Cole will race in the CDLCA 25-mile time trial on the Etwall to Uttoxeter course where he recorded 58 minutes last season.
Richard Pedersen also hopes for a fast 25-mile time after last week's personal best over 10 miles in the Stourbridge CC event.
Chris Morris aims for a strong finish in the Worcester St Johns CC 10-mile time trial at Seven Stoke on Saturday.
Chris Poole, David Barnes, Jon Howard and Pedersen will also represent the district.
The club time trial competition got underway last week with Morris taking a convincing lead on the 14-mile hilly Astley circuit.
He was three minutes ahead of second-placed Dave Wood by clocking an impressive 33-46.
Wood managed 36-55 and John Parker was third in 38-36.
