A STOURPORT woman who had been waiting 16 months for a special bath or shower to be fitted in her home has died - without the improvements ever going ahead.
Gladys Teague was featured in the Shuttle/Times and News in March when it emerged there had been a delay in referring her to occupational therapists for the installation of an easy-access shower in the Park Crescent home of the frail 78 year-old.
A huge backlog in housing grants had held her case back further.
This week her daughter, Susan Jordan, telephoned the newspaper to say Mrs Teague died in Worcestershire Royal Hospital on Saturday morning with her family at her bedside.
She had been suffering from a chest infection.
Mrs Jordan said the shower had still not been fitted.
She said: "My dad was l chasing it but it is too late now. I do feel bitter. The shower would have made her life much easier."
Mrs Teague's funeral will be held at St Michael's Church, Stourport on Monday at 11am.
