A STOURPORT airman has been singled out for special praise for his work raising morale among troops in Afghanistan during his tour of duty.
Sgt Andrew Rose, 36, an RAF physical training instructor and physiotherapist, was deployed to Kabul as part of the International Security Assistance Force.
His proud mum, Dorothy, of Milford Avenue, Stourport, said he was pleasantly surprised to receive a citation for making a "significant contribution" to the force and was presented with the Commander's Coin, a NATO deployment medal.
"He was only there for a relatively short time but was praised for his work keeping morale high."
Andrew, a former pupil of Stourport High School, joined the RAF at 18. He is married and has two young sons, aged six and nine.
He is currently based in Holland.
