BEWDLEY Town gave a major boost to their top-six West Midlands League Division One South hopes by beating rivals Wyre Forest Brintons 4-1 on Saturday.
They need the finish to secure a place in the new Division One next season which will incorporate the best of the North and South divisions.
Bewdley hope to push ahead with portable changing rooms and hard standing around their Ribbesford Meadows ground in order to qualify, subject to planning permission.
Steve Holt's two goals, including a penalty, put Bewdley on top at the weekend but Andy Oakes replied with a classy goal for Forest Brintons.
Top scorer Chris Hough, who bagged a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Malvern Rangers last week, and an own goal completed the tally for Town.
Bewdley's game with Malvern Town Reserves on Monday was called off along with a fund-raising car boot sale, due to a water-logged pitch.
The postponement has left them with four games over the next seven days, starting with a trip to lowly Cradley Town Reserves tonight.
Boss Craig Payton will continue to give a chance to teenagers Rob Turford, Ollie Lawley, Mike Harris and Holt in his 18-man squad.
But next season Payton is to lose his brother and assistant manager Wayne who plans to concentrate more on youth football coaching.
John Lawley and Dave Knight are likely to be involved more behind the scenes to join Paul Brothers in helping out C Payton.
