Knowle 0, Littleton 1
LITTLETON wound up their season with an excellent away win at the home of last season's first division champions who were unable to secure promotion because of the lack of floodlights.
This was a battling performance from the visitors who were short of several players, but their replacements proved their worth.
Saturday's opening 45 minutes was a tepid affair as both sides struggled to cope with a difficult surface, but gradually Littleton began to get on top and went close when Nick Burrows shot narrowly wide.
However, the pattern of the first half saw both defences dominating with the Harris brothers, Chris Bate and Perry Beddoes holding the Knowle forwards and restricting home opportunities.
The game had looked odds-on a goalless draw until the visitors struck 20 minutes from time. Matty Edwards hit a long cross into the centre where Simon Brain met the ball with a diving header.
Littleton almost doubled their advantage but two shots were cleared off the line.
At the other end, Knowle looked certain to score when Oliver headed in a cross from the right but an incredible point-blank save from Danny Edwards at the foot of a post preserved his clean sheet and ensured Littleton signed off on a winning note.
