A NEPALESE family from Kidderminster are among the first in Worcestershire to attend the Government's new "citizenship ceremony".
The family, from the Hoobrook area, will "swear the oath of allegiance to The Queen and pledge loyalty to the United Kingdom" at County Hall in Worcester today.
British citizenship will not be conferred on the family until they have attended the ceremony, introduced following an Act of Parliament in 2002.
A Home Office spokesman said: "Citizenship ceremonies are a key part of our reforms to welcome new citizens into local communities and help them to gain a deeper understanding of British values."
